Pistons are the heart of a caliper rebuild. Scoring or corrosion on a piston chews through seals and shows up as a soft pedal or a caliper that drags, so inspect them closely whenever the caliper is apart and replace any that are not perfect. Clean hydraulic work and fresh fluid will maximise the service life of the new part.
